![]() You also need a new Save folder, which is usually “C:\Users \UserName \Documents \SH4”, with “UserName” being whatever You will of course, need a “clean” SH4 install, as described in the “Install Notes For the Various Versions of Silent Hunter 4 in Windows” pdf, or from either making a clean copy of the game files from an archive, or IF you properly used the JSGME “Generate snapshot of game files.”, you could use the “JSGME → Tasks… → Compare game files to snapshot” to verify your current install after removing all other mods. Have an emergency boot disk handy, and back-up your important data prior to proceeding. You are warned to proceed with caution if you use either technique, and to be certain you know how to undo your edits, if the worst should happen, and the computer refuses to boot. Of course, you most likely wouldn’t notice that while playing the game. What you are doing is telling the OS to limit itself to less RAM, and give apps more RAM, which can adversely affect the performance of the OS. If you have a 32-bit version of Windows Vista or later, and you have 4 gig of RAM or more, you could consult the link on that page “Boot Options in Windows Vista and Later”, which is a similar technique. If you feel adventurous, you could consult the Microsoft article “Boot Options in a Boot.ini File” for everything you might want to know about the Boot ini file. If you have a Windows XP machine, your programs most likely are limited to 2 gigabytes. This is due to the addressing architecture of the 32-bit computer. The OS reserves the rest for its own use. With Windows XP, the OS limits you to as little as 2 gigs per process by default, and the boot.ini file has to be edited to get up to the 3.25 gig ‘limit’. Most applications written for Windows XP, such as SH4, are only able to address approximately 3.25 gig of your RAM (computer dependent) – if they were written to do such. The NTCore 4GB Patch, or the one available from privateer on SubSim’s download page as Win XP 4 Gig RAM Patch will work in 32-bit versions of Windows, but you will need 4 gig of RAM for it to do you any good. ![]() If you have a 32-bit version, or only have Windows XP, then you most likely cannot use LAA. The same applet can be used with Windows Vista, 7, 8 and 8.1 with minimal alteration, so long as you have a 64-bit version of the Windows OS. CapnScurvy has a really good write-up for LAA in the SubSim thread “Windows10 Large Address Aware SH4 Install”, where he discusses it in detail from a Windows 10 perspective. As such, you need to use the LAA (Large Address Aware) applet, or something similar. There are more ships, more subs, and more AI subs than most any mod we are aware of at this time. Preliminary Points FotRSU is a rather large mod, possibly the largest of the SH4 mods. If you download from Steam, their “base” game is v1.3, and you must use their “U-Boat Missions Add-On” You MUST install the game outside of the Windows “Program Files” folders Afte mod activation with JSGME, you MUST empty the Save folder (C:\Users \UserName \ Documents \SH4) Prerequisites You MUST have Silent Hunter Wolves of the Pacific (SH4) v1.5, which includes the U-Boat Missions Add-On, of which the “Gold Edition” also qualifies as such. ![]() You should not alter other files in the mod without permission from the FotRSU team, led by Rockin Robbins (contact point). If you want to translate the mod into another language, you are more than free to do such, it is just asked that you share your translation with others. ![]() FotRSU is a combination of all of AOTD_MadMax’s work, into one mod for v1.5 of the game, and in English. The mod is an update to the old AOTD_MadMax mod Fall of the Rising Sun (FOTRS), which was released as several versions, the last of which did not work in v1.5, only in v1.4, and it was in the German language only. This mod will NOT work correctly in SH4 v1.4 or v1.3 – only v1.5 – if you do not have a choice for a German career on you game’s Main Menu, then this mod will not work with it for the Pacific side of the game.
